How to steer away from LinkedIn restrictions

LinkedIn bans invasive third-party extensions, risking account restrictions. Here’s how to use Autopilot safely.

Let's address the elephant in the room: LinkedIn disapproves of any invasive third-party extensions on its platform. If you've done your research, you might already know how strict LinkedIn is with its data protection and privacy policies. Your LinkedIn account can be restricted or even banned if LinkedIn detects that you are using, or even have installed, any frowned-upon extensions in your browser.

The main problem with off-the-shelf (OTS) extensions is that, to accommodate the multifaceted requirements of a large user base, they often include aggressive functionalities and modifications. These features are strongly condemned by LinkedIn and are much easier to detect due to the large number of users.

LinkedIn has its own list of "bad" extensions that it considers to be against its privacy policies. Fortunately, Autopilot is not one of them. However, if you are using one of these extensions or merely have it installed on your browser, LinkedIn will flag your account as suspicious and take a closer look at your activities.

Although we haven't had many account restrictions, when we do investigate individual accounts, we often find that these "bad" extensions are running.

Here's what we suggest when using Autopilot

  1. Remove other extensions: Do not use other extensions that LinkedIn might disapprove of. Remove them completely and remain "calm" for a period after doing so, so LinkedIn sees you as a compliant user again.

  2. Limit personal usage: LinkedIn has certain interaction limits. It's never a good idea to maximize your automation while also running multiple manual activities. We suggest you limit your automation to the morning, for example, and then be active manually in the afternoon.

  3. Mimic human behavior: Autopilot's nature is to mimic human behavior. However, having two "humans" (the automation and you) active at the same time can also be suspicious.

By following these guidelines, you can use Autopilot more safely and reduce the risk of your LinkedIn account being flagged or restricted.
