What is the difference between Contact Import and Bulk Tagging?

With Leadinfo, you can use both Contact Import and Bulk Tagging to efficiently manage large datasets.
While both features work with lists of companies or contacts, they each have their own specific purpose:

  • Contact Import is designed to add new contacts to your Leadinfo Autopilot campaign.

  • Bulk Tagging is used to quickly assign one or more tags to companies.

In this article, we explain the difference between the two, how each function works, and when to use which option.

1. What is Contact Import?

With Contact Import, you can easily add lists of leads or contact persons to your Leadinfo Autopilot.
Think of contacts from your CRM system or collected at an event. This way, you manage all your data in one place and can immediately follow up on contacts through an Autopilot campaign.

How it works

  • Upload the CSV file containing your contacts.
→ You can download the official CSV template here.

  • Make sure your file follows the official Leadinfo template:

    • All headers from the CSV template must be included, even if some columns remain empty.

    • The headers must remain in the same order as in the CSV template.

    • A maximum of 1,000 contacts per upload applies.

    • Only .CSV files are accepted.

  • Optionally, assign a tag and link the contacts to an Autopilot campaign.

  • Leadinfo processes the file and adds the contacts to your selected campaign.

  • Check the import status:

    • Processing

    • Successful

    • Error file available

Example

You have a list of 500 leads collected at a trade fair and want to import them into Leadinfo for automatic follow-up in a campaign. You can use the Contact Import functionality for this.

2. What is Bulk Tagging?

With Bulk Tagging, you can quickly and efficiently assign tags to multiple companies at once.
This applies to companies that have already visited your website, as well as those that will visit it in the future.

How it works

  • Upload a CSV file with company data, such as:

    • Domain

    • Email address

    • Phone number

    • Country code (mandatory)
→ You can download the official CSV template here.

  • Choose the tag you want to assign (e.g. Customer, Prospect, or Partner).

  • Leadinfo matches the companies from your file with its internal database.

  • Once a match is found, the tag is automatically added to the company profile.

  • The same tag will also be automatically applied to companies from your file that visit your website after the file is uploaded.

  • Check the upload status:

    • Processing

    • Successful

    • Error file available

Example

You have a list of existing customers and want Leadinfo to automatically identify and tag these companies as “Existing Customer.” You can use the Bulk Tagging functionality for this.

3. When should you use each function?

Use Contact Import

  • You want to add new contacts from an external file (CRM, Excel, event list) to an Autopilot campaign.

Use Bulk Tagging

  • You want to automatically assign tags existing or future companies in Leadinfo (e.g. customer, prospect, do not contact).
